Accessibility statement for Formulate

This accessibility statement applies to the Formulate website and web application at formulatetools.co.uk — the public marketing and resource-library pages, the therapist dashboard, and the client homework and portal pages — run by Formulate Tools Ltd.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the site using just a keyboard
  • use the site with a screen reader (pages use semantic landmarks, headings, and labelled form controls)
  • turn animations off — the site respects your device's reduced-motion setting
  • use the site in light or dark mode

How accessible this website is

This website is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard — they are listed below.

Non-accessible content

We know about the following issues:

  • PDF exports are not tagged. Worksheets and formulations downloaded as PDFs do not yet contain accessibility tags (document structure, reading order), so they may not read correctly in a screen reader. The same content is available as an accessible web page before export, and we plan to add tagged PDF output.
  • The interactive formulation diagram editor relies on dragging. Building a formulation diagram involves positioning boxes and drawing arrows with a pointer, and cannot yet be completed with a keyboard alone (WCAG 2.1.1). The structured form-based worksheets cover the same clinical content and are fully keyboard operable.
  • Some progress charts do not yet have full text equivalents. Outcome-measure charts in the therapist dashboard are presented visually; the underlying scores are available in accompanying tables and lists, but not every chart has a complete text alternative yet.

How we tested this website

This website was last tested in July 2026. Testing was carried out as a self-assessment by Formulate Tools Ltd, using a combination of automated checks (axe-core and accessibility linting run in our build pipeline) and manual keyboard, zoom, and screen-reader spot checks across the main journeys: browsing the worksheet library, signing up, assigning homework, and completing a worksheet as a client.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 2 July 2026. It will be reviewed when the issues above are fixed, and at least annually.
